The Laupahoehoe Train Museum Is based out of the old agent’s house, which is furnished like it was in the early 1900’s. The Hilo Railroad operated from 1899 until 1946 when it was irreparably damaged by a tsunami. Many of the museum operators have spent their lives in the community and are happy to talk story with visitors.
